In our increasingly digital world, readers/users/customers— real people, not companies — come first. We use websites to quickly get clear information that helps us complete key tasks, make decisions, and live better lives. When we find websites crammed with marketing-speak touting the latest offerings of This Fantastic Business, we’re not likely to wade through reams of dense copy to discover what we need.
As writers who work for businesses that want to promote their products/services and attract customers, we must turn our communication approach upside down and learn to write for real people to get noticed online.
Join Eastern Iowa STC for Jill J. Jensen’s presentation on exploring web writing best practices.
We’ll use samples from the audience and revise them with a user-and-benefit-focused style.
To submit a sample for review, send it with your RSVP by April 7.
As Geonetric’s web strategy and editorial director, Jill’s strategic organization skills, ongoing interest in industry trends, and extensive writing/editing background help clients create intuitive website structures
and tell their stories through clear and memorable copy. After all, she’s been building sites
and writing for the web since the beginning of internet time!
With 35+ years of experience in diverse communication media, Jill has developed information architecture
and content strategy for websites, and provided creative and technical writing, copywriting, and ghostwriting services for a wide range of industries.
